Initial Response Monday 3rd October

Reading Tom Turner's paper, Greenways, Blueways, Skyways and Otherways to a better London, really helped me to put this project into perspective and helped clarify the requirements of the brief.

So, after our five mile trek in the heat across the Royal Docks today, I feeling very inspired by the process of Urban Planning and especially thinking about the prospect of a vision for 300 years. There is so much room for change here, despite much of the development being relatively contemporary.

The cable car project ( A Skyway), due to be launched next year is innovative and should be successful as a tourist attraction as well as for transport.  I hope that this is the beginning of a much greater project for the whole of London.  On the larger scale, we need to examine the Crossrail route which will link the area to North Kent, Essex and Berkshire.

The roads are busy and not pedestrian friendly and new paving at Albert Dock is banal and unimaginative.   It will be challanging obligation to find an original solution to these design problems.
